3 things to do before leaving London! – by Carly Noah

With less than a week to spend in London, it is finally hitting me that before I know it, I will be back in the Midwest, miles and miles away from the city I have come to call home for the past five months. No longer will I be in walking distance of the tube, the Shard, or other monuments that I associate with London.

With this in mind, it’s hard not to get caught up in feeling overwhelmed about leaving. It’s impossible to see everything in London, however, it is possible to spend your last few days doing things that you won’t be able to do in your home state. With that in mind, read on for my list of three must-do activities before leaving London.

1. Eat!

Perhaps one of my most enjoyable parts of living in London for the semester has been enjoying the huge diversity of food offered in the city. Try out a new restaurant, coffee shop, or pub!

2. Walk!

In the early months of my semester abroad, the thought of walking through London was not something that occurred in my brain more than once — due to the cold temperature outside! However, now that spring has sprung and the temperature has crawled out of the lows, I have loved walking all over the city. There are so many great areas within walking distance: Shoreditch, Hoxton, and Liverpool Street are all areas with so much to offer. Walking also makes you realize how close you are to many London monuments!

3. Write!

Something that I have really enjoyed doing this semester is consistent journaling. It has been a great way for me to reflect on the events of each day and will be so fun to have for the remainder of my life! Before leaving London, make sure that you take time to articulate how you feel about your semester abroad.
